Numbers 11:5
We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons and the leeks and the onions , and the garlic.
This is some of the berry pickers we had a while back, and was a lots of good conversation going on and a lots of berries picked.
Reaching back for how it use to be reminds me of how it was when I was a child and remembering things my mother cooked. I don't know if she cooked the Shoofly Pie or not but I am sure she cooked some sort of pie that she put molasses in it. If she did put any kind of sugar it was the sugar she scraped from the inside of the molasses can. Now that was a long time ago but the molasses cookies were so good with that rock sugar she got from the can. I can almost smell it now. My niece that was picking the berries sent me this Pie recipe so you can see what you think it will taste like
Aunt Emmy;s Shoo fly Pie 3/4 tsp backing soda
1/4 cup shortening 1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup flour 3/4 cup molasses
1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup hot water
Work the above ingredients together
1/8 tsp nutmeg
pinch of cinnamon, ginger and cloves, mix well together and add hot water. Pour into an unbaked pie shell, combine the crumbs and liquid in alternate layers, with crumbs on bottom and top. Bake 15 Mins. at 450 then 20 Mins. at 350
I am reaching a way back now and getting a recipe .
