Scripture for earlier blog

Ecclesiastes 9: 7
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepts thy works.

We had a wonderful Christmas at my house this time and am wishing for a happy new for ever one. Even though I had a bad fall and injured my head, now I think every thing is going to be alright since the doctor has checked me out.

After Christmas

December 26 2007

No picture of the art work but a fragment roll I made of some left overs, it could be made with any kind of meat and vegetables and of course seasoning of your choice.
I used flat pastry from the store, some left over pork roast we had of lunch, ham would be good.
Pork roast torn in small pieces to give the meatier warm taste,
Salt and pepper
A layer of sour crout
A layer of chopped broccoli,
Finely chopped red onion,
Layer of Cheddar cheese.

Sprinkle of pepper flakes to give a little sting.
Roll up and brush with milk or egg.
Cut into slices and bake for about 30 minutes, or until brown at 350%

This could be brushed with some of the herbal mustard sauce for even a more, moist taste when done.
The herbal vinegar mustard sauce is mentioned on an earlie poste.
The gerbal vinegar is found in my booth at the Galleria at Collins, Ms.

James 1: 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither Shadow of turning..

God is so good to me and especially since I live around the churches, there has been loads of fruit and blessings from them to enjoy.

Today we had our senior virson lunch en at the church and I displayed some of the dolls I had sculpted, and another lady displayed her beanie babies. That was a sight and fun to see. So many, one of every thing you could imagine. I was one of the lucky one to win one for a door prize, I will always treasure it.

Blooms again

December 10 2007

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field , so he flourished. Psalms 103: 15

Here are my violets again blooming again. They go away and come right back with a new set of blooms.
I water once a week and that gives me something to do. Maybe stick out another leaf and let it take roots, The others I have blooming, well there is not enough room in this window.
Today is a summer time day and a good time to be outside, pick up pecans and rake leaves. I could really use some help for that.
To day I went to the mail box and spray painted it a dark green and painted the flag brought red. When I go to town I will get a little greenery and a red bow to put on it.

Salad dressing

November 30 2007
Genesis 3: 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field.
These bottles are done in watercolor and are for herb dressing, I collect these just to paint and sit in my window for the light that shines through.
I have come up with another recipe, something that needs a better taste. You know these attractive little packages of white turkey that look like so clean and tastefull? Well I think a ground up lighter knot would taste better, so I will just have to invent something to make a dish. Now I like turkey if it is fried, baked or smoked, but to me this little package of meat does not taste at all. So here goes,
I make this herbal vinegar and also make my Salsa in the summer when I have fresh tomatoes and herbs.
This little eye catching tub of white might could use some of it.
1 cup chopped onion
2 chopped sweet pepper
1/2 cup celery
2 chopped jalapeno pepper
2 chopped medium size garlic cloves
1 cup salsa salt and pepper
Saute first 5 veggies, add the turkey and cook until done, and add salsa.
I did a taste test then I knew immediately that it would have to have something else.
so I cooked 3 pieces of bacon and crumbled it in, that made a difference.
When I made a salad and used some of the herbal mustard dressing that I make (check this on and older post) then spread that on top; well the white turkey is eatable.

Just Bloggiong

November 25 2007
Genesis 1: 29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

This scripture is most interesting of all
you could read, just think how wonderful and gracious God was to us. Just think of all the needs of a tree and the seed, what all the things we can use.

This art work is one made of handmade watercolor paper, of the tree it furnished the material that went in to that process. Then that paper was hand beaten with the stain of the the pecan hulls of the tree. Hm mm

I retrieved this artwork from the galleria I had it hanging in so could make some pictures for someone.

Luke 17: 2
It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about is neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Looks like he may be a business man, cause I am thinking it through right now. So don't even think about setting the wrong example before me because I am soaking it all up.

Pecans

November 22 2007
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Psalm 35: 3
The pecans are falling and I need all the help I can get. But I have to taste of them first since that is usually the first thing I do. I am just fifteen monts old but I can do it.
I believe this the first year they have been so many.

Handmade clay Village

November 15 007

Psalms 61: 7

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God .

As you can see I have some churches made for this little village. It is made of clay and the large ones is handmade, the smaller ones are poured from a mold. Lots of fun.

Sculptur

November 12 0007 Jeremiah 18: 6
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

This is another sculpture as the one in a previous page, he is dressed a little different
and is a ceder rocker. My friend. Bro Joe Ratclif made the rocker and now he is in need of prayer so please say a prayer for him.
The Santa is made of polymer clay with sculpted head, hands, arms and boots, he is about 18 in high. Has on a red velvet suit and cotton shirt. If you would like more information you may contact me at louisespell@msn.com. Thanks for looking.

The Falcon

Friday November 9 2007
My this week has gone by fast and the month is getting on just as fast, four more days and the month will be half gone.
It has been a beautiful day and the hickory trees are getting even more beautiful. Of all the paints I have painted with that is a yellow that I never came up with. Only God can bring out the beauty of the hickory tree. The deep brown that surrounds it brings out the warmth and glow it has. That is not in this painting but watch it when you are traveling the country roads. This painting is painted with acrylic on canvas.

Pelican

October 6 007
Today in Covington County Ms is voting day and I will go this morning and then wait up tonight to see who won. This is always and exciting day. The weather is cool and kind of windy and cloudy but it really feels good out side.
This is, a pelican I suppose, I am not to up on the kind of birds I paint, he just has such a graceful neck that I couldn't resist. A pelican is suppose to have large web feet with a very large bill and pouch to catch his food most likely fish.
He is painted with acrylic on a canvas. Can't you just see him strolling around in low water hunting his prey?
St. Luke 12: 24 says "Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them:
how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Old World Santa

October 5 007
We have a beautiful day here in this area, don't seem like it so close to Christmas.
This is an old world Santa that I sculpted, it is made of polymer clay and is about 18 inches high, dressed in red velvet with a gown of silk taffeta. I will be at the Galleria for viewing.

I will praise thee, O Lord , among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

October 3 007

I have another recipe that I have made up since I like something sweet ever once a while. Even if I wasn't watching the sugar it would be good for any body. I have been blessed with peppers this summer and you can use these Jalapeno peppers so many ways. I have been eating sugar free jello and apples for quiet some times now and keep adding things to it. If you like these peppers take the seed out and cut up real fine and try adding to your vegetables, sweets and any thing you can think of.

I used one sugar free strawberry jello

1 apple, gala or delisious

1 cup blueberries

2 Tablespoon celery chopped fine

1 Tablespoon Jalapeno pepper chopped fine

2 Tablespoon Splendo

After it has jelled, spread with crounchy peanut butter. If the pepper is too hot for you the peanut butter will help calm it down.

Deuteronomy 28 :8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto: and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord God giveth thee.

Winter greens

October 3 007
This is a beautiful fall day near my home and so pleasant with the sun shinning. This is a fall garden with mustard, turnips, collards and last spring peppers. .
I am thinning out the mustard to give the turnips room to make roots, this will last me for a long time and then the we will get ready for Spring again. Goes good with the potato bread.

1 Chronicles 4: 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. .

Angle Trumpet

October 26 007

This bush is late blooming and my orange colored bush hasn't bloomed at all, it is usually earlier than this one.
I think it is from the dry weather a while back. Seems like the blooms are unusually large this time.
We have had several days of rain now so next year we will look for more bloom.
So far we have not had a lots of color in the trees this year for some reason I don't know. I love the fall of the year because when the leaves began to change color the hickory trees are the most beautiful of all to me, a golden yellow that is beyond any thing you could ever imagine. In the fall when the leaves began to fall you will notice the flowers that are in bloom more, they will stand out so vibrant and give you a new lift on life.

Sweet potatoe bread

October 20 007

Back when I grew up my mother made sweet potato bread, we had plenty of sweet potato, sugar cane, fresh milk, pork meat, and peanut. For some reason instead of just baked, fried potatoes or a pie she would make sweet potato bread. It was a variety and all liked it.

Since my daughter grew some potatoes this year she wonted to make some. This is what I remember of how my mother made sweet potato bread.

1 large potato cooked and mashed

1/2 cup molasses

1/2 stick butter

1/2 or 1 cup sugar I used sugar substitute

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup flour

1 teas vanilla

1 teas lemon flavoring

1 Tablespoon bacon grease

Mix to gather all ingredients and have your skillet hot with the tablespoon of bacon grease and pour all ingredients in bake for 45 minutes

Herbal recipe

October 11 007
Fall is here and time for all kind of end of the garden fruits. In the Spring I gather the fresh sprouts of herbs and load my vinegar jug up. I just go out and enjoy the smell of them and get a big arm full, they smell so good and it makes me hungry for odd things like the late fruits and veggies. You can use the Herbal vinegars on a number of things like the greens we yarn for in the fall. This sauce goes good with just plain white bread, cornbread and of course the salads.
1 cup vinegar
1/4 cup mustard
1/2 cup olive oil
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 Table spoon honey.

For a cucumber salad

1 Large cucumber
1/4 Teaspoon salt
Black pepper
1/2 Cup herbal vinegar

Flowers

October 7 007
Well today is my daughter's birthday and I am sending you some flowers, dear daughter.
The purple is from the butterfly bush and butterflies are what you like and I once made you a butterfly quilt.
The gardenia is a bush I have in the back yard and they smell so good.
I need to get back to work and paint this butterfly bush it is full of bloom and it is gorgeous.

Harvest

September 18-0007
Now at the last of the season, pepper marmalade from the peppers and salsa from the tomatoes.
Both are very good, the salsa with vegetables, meat and with just crackers. This came in handy when Katrina came and you couldn't cook.
The peppers are made with the red, orange and yellow peppers and a cup full of the butternut squash. I used four cups of peppers with about four jalapenos peppers and one cup of butternut squash. I used one sugar free sure jell with four cups splenda. It is not hot but not being use to the jalapeno peppers and I did not wont the seed in it, well I will add more next time to get it hot, I do like it a little spicy. This is also good with the veggies and meat or just crackers.

Jeremiah 5- 24 says, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Sculpturd

September 15 0007
Today in my part of the country it is a beautiful day and half of the month is gone. My where does the time go?
This is a sculpture of an Old World Santa made from polymer clay, after I sculpted the head and hands I would bake it in the oven. Then I made a body and stuffed it with cotton batting. It took quiet a while but was a lots fun.
I have several of them some sitting and some are standing. I really did enjoy sculpting and making the cloths for them until my hands got so stiff until it became too hard for me to finish them like I wonted. He is about 17 inches high.

Trweasure Chest

September 7-- 007 About 5 or 6 years ago my friend Bro
Joe retired from the First Baptist
Church in Collins, he moved about 3 miles out from Collins in the country, on the Salem Church Road. It is about 3 or 4 miles below me, then with his other Churches that he ministered to he began doing some bird houses and ask me to paint them for him so I ask him to make me a chest like this one. I painted him one, from that we kept that going for about 5 or 6 years , now he is very sick and has lost his wife. I haven't heard from him for quiet a while, but I will find out tomorrow in Church for I am real anxious to hear about him. So this gives me a chance to show off his work and his loving care to every one, I think he gave all away to friends. I am so glad that I could call him my friend.

Proverbs 15-13 " Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friend".

African Violet

September 3 007

My, my this year is flying by, it has been so hot until you can't get out of the house so I have a hobby going and they are so beautiful. I can't complain about staying in the house though for there is bloom every where. African violets are about the easiest flower to grow that I have, I just put a job stick and water in the bottom and set back and watch them bloom. I have found the best place to put them is over my sink in the kitchen and they will stand almost straight up. This window is good to but some times I will swap around. If I just had more room.

Matthew 6: 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

Magnolia

Today September 2-007

This is the flower from the magnolia tree, I did not paint it, it came from one of the trees in my yard. This flower is the state flower of Mississippi. Has large, long, green leaves to frame the flower. The large soft like petals remind you of velvet, overlapping with a large, round, orange stem in the center. It will have from seven to nine or more petals, like this one. When the sunlight hits the leaves in the afternoon they looks like glass. You can find them all over the woods and up and down the highways in Mississippi. A beautiful tree and all artist in this state has either painted one or tried.

Jer 17: 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.fruit.

Grapes

September 1--007
This is a little art work of mine, a tag of grapes done in watercolor. My grapes are ripe and gone, there wasn't very many this year but were real sweet. Most of the time I make juice and my friend made some jelly from the juice I extracted from them last year. A Delicious flavor, and my grapes are purple.
My sister and I use to find the wild ones in the woods and would gather them and eat them or my mother would make jelly from them.
In Deuteronomy 5:16 it says to Honor your father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God give thee.
We made good use of our land and enjoyed it.
In Proverbs 23-7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: As my father would tell us that we are the architect of our own being. I think of that very often. So if you think of something your mother or father said when you were young, hold on to it may be of valuer to you.

Mus'cadines

August 22 007

My mus'ca-dines are ripe and in abundance, one of the best flavored fruits around. The are all around in the trees but I have them on a wire so they will be easy to pick. There is a lots of ways to prepare them, my mother was creative and would make Jelly, marmalade, cobblers and tarts. She could make cobbers with that good fresh, soft cow butter and it was one of the best. The jelly and marmalade with a hot biscuit was so good for breakfast then she would grind the hulls and make tarts. That was especially good after we came in from school. You can fry or bake them, you didn't have to spice them up, just add the sugar.

Deuteronomy 28: 2 says; And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

Market in Birmingham

August 14: 007
Today is the day for the Senior version lunch en at the Church, I sure hope to go, I am having a little maintenance work on my car so time will tell if I get to go.

My peppers are really fine and it is time for me to utilize them if my time will permit. While visiting over in Alabama my granddaughter wonted me to go with her to the Farmer's Market in Birmingham, that was right up my ally. The next morning by daylight my daughter and I was up to meet her and her husband at their house, at the market we saw everything from goat cheese to pepper marmalade, of course she bought some of both. I especially liked the jar the marmalade that was kind of hot. It and the cheese went together good. It was the right season for the Alabama peaches and they were a beautiful site, so tempting. We did get some of the things that wasn't available for in the stores around where we would normally shop for food.

Numbers 23: 20 says, Behold I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed: and I cannot reverse it.

Gardenia

August 10 007

Can't you just smell this beautiful flower, every time I go out in my back yard and close to that bush I meet that aroma.

I am working on another recipe, the pears are plentiful, big, nice but are full of water. It is also hot and the deers have picked the ones down where you can reach, when some one comes along to help me reach them, then I will peel and cook.

Long time ago I head my mother say something about pear chuntey, now I don't remember if she ever made it or not, I am sure she did and made up her own recipe, that is the way things were done when I was a child. I leaned how to cook from my mother-in-law, if she had a recipe, I don't know. I had four sisters older than me so I did not get cooking lessons from my mother I was married before I learned to cook much.

If any one has a receipt for pear chuntey I would like for you to share it with me.

Boys

August 4 007
This is my second little one year old and I am getting use to the water. What in the world is water any way, I know it was coming out of this little thingy on the ground and I am feeling of it so I will know what it is. If it would just keep on coming out like it did I could surely wet my grandmas. Any way I will just dump the water out and watch it run around on the ground, then maybe it will come out like it did when I was holding it up. ????????????

Last of the harvest

July 29 0007
This is a butternut squash that I had never planted before and had never eaten. So it took over my garden with vine and bloom, then the squash. What a beautiful sight.
Now I had to figure out a way to eat them. I tried the butter and garlic, then the sauteed with onions, a little hot pepper, bell pepper, garlic and celery, I filled in with sausage meat. To say the least that was pretty good, then I barked upon a cake, after the second attempt I have finally come up with a recipe that is pretty good, well good. Now I can make this recipe with the pears and that ought to be even better

In Exodus 23: 16
And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou has sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in in thy labours out of the field.

Bounty of fruit

July 27 007
The pears are now ready and plenty of them,I will make a few preserves as usual for the family. Most of my family like them on a Sunday morning when we all gather around with a hot biscuit and butter, I cook them down with lots of sugar and lots of lemon. The young ones like to get the lemon out and I do to. Now these may have to be cooked with Splenda since that is the popular thing to do now day. Pears, like a lots of things we eat does not have a lots of flavor but it is good for you and something to experment with. Maybe we could do with it like we have potatoes figure out some new ways to cook them. I have made tarts, pies, a cobbler and jellies. Even put in a baked chicken, hemmmm wasn't bad. Now that we have a lots of different kinds of spices might be a lots of fun to try even more things.
Genesis1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree, yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Fruit

July 3 007
This morning I think I have picked my last gallon of blueberries at least I hope so. This hot sun is gradually sapping the juice out of them. They have really made good this year. I have about 20 trees or more and I have picked until I can see blue at night. I have made two pies and they were SO good. I think I will make a cake next. I once painted a picture of like this, I didn't put any green ones and I don't remember just who bought it. It takes a long time to put those leaves and berries on and I just now noticed that there is a lots of leaves turned with the underside out. The variation of the leaves makes it more catchy, I don't know if I will paint another or not.
In Genesis 1:12 we read, And the earth brought forth grass, and herbs yielding seed after his kind, and the trees yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: God saw that it was good

New crop

June 16 0007
I have picked lots and lots of this tree and look what is left. These are as large as a marble and real luscious with juice. I have used these in my cereal for a while now. I think I am addicted to them.

This is just some of the trees that are getting ripe, have already picked about 6 gallons and if I could reach the top I would get these. They are so sweet and luscious, a joy to pick.

June 10 oo7

This flower is just putting out its bloom but is going to be a beauty when it gets to full bloom.

Sometimes while in Church, I take down a few notes that I can refer to in my journal. For some reason this struck me, what was said," every one needs to choose a direction in their life." Some times I think we are like a flower.

This violet does not always start of in a way that looks like any thing but in the end it will be so beautiful and you would think there would not be another bloom but believe me it will. I can't wait to see it and will be that way for a week or more before it begin's to fade and sometimes it will even add another bud or more.

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving , and tell of all thy wondrous works. Psalms 26; 7

Fresh from the garden

June 3-07

Now is the time to gather the garden and mine is coming in a little at the time, not near as early and nice as has been in the past. I am thankful for the bounty and enjoying it very much. Notice the leaf growing from the squash, I have never seen this before but it is interesting.

The pepper is just too hot for me and if I can't give it away will can some and then maybe can give away. it will be good in some cornbread. I have some butternut squash grownig in my garden and they are full of little squash, so cute but had I have know that they were the running kind I sure would have not planted them in the garden, they have filled my garden up and running out in the yard. I took some clippers and cliped the vines off, I don't know if that will do any good or not. Now I will know not to ever plant them in a small place.

The blueberries are ripening and will be plenty of them, I have been picking the Rabbit eyes and they are so big and fluffy, so good in my cereal.

Book of life

May 19 20007
We've had a little cool spell and did make the cover feel good, now I suppose we will have some good old hot weather and that will be good to . My tomatoes likes the hot sunshine.

I did this little painting a good while back, with nothing to do, I was playing around with paints and paper. Just laying down some paint and then something else struck me to add some roots and trees, then the other color came in plac and I decided to add a center of interest. Well with a fine brush I added the book, Now you can see what else. This was fun to do, just to see what else would come up.

but rather rejoice , because your names are written in heaven.

Off to the singing school

April 9 2007
You could call this part of my life since this is what my father paid for us to do in the summer, as a learning time and a good time to go and enjoy. We called it to see and be seen, for we would see people there that love to sing and like us see and be seen to. This was mostly for young people but it had to be close by where we could walk, only the young men would have a car. At one of these learning and good times is where I met my first husband. We went to the Church or the School house to get these lessons. I never learned much, caring a tune was not one of my biggest assets.

Bottles

Today the 5 day of may 2007
a kind of cloudy day but pleasant. T he festival is to day in Collins, Ms.
I usually go but not today.
My garden is growing and looking great, but have a little something growing that I did not plant, now hoeing has not been my specialty but I suppose I can get some of out if I persist a little at the time. I like to see things grow but I never did like hoeing, if a little fairy would come along and pull that grass out, then I could go out and plant again. hm

These bottles were in my possession, I made a digital picture and then had fun painting.

April 29 007
This is what I have in my yard blooming and with a lots more thing but one of the most beautiful. It is time to paint and have made pictures so can capture some of the beauty.
In a little while my lilies will be blooming and that will be to paint to. Right now my niece is painting with me and it has been bottles and objects.
We had a wonderful service this morning lunch afterwards.

The cabbage patch

April 21 20007
These cabbage plants wont be long now, they have started to head, today I had a salad of spinach, lettuce and onions. The dressing was made of herbal vinegar and olive oil.
I am painting again, wonted to take pictures of the paintings to show but the battery is gone in the camera. My niece came this and she painted her first painting, of a sunflower. Next week we will do that again, I think she enjoyed it very much. Then we gathered flowers for her yard.
My herbs are coming out and will soon be time to make that herbal vinegar.

Spring

April 6 2007
Well we are right before Easter, and a cold snap is due. The tomatoes and pepper are looking great. Tomorrow we will be covering them up so we can try to protect them from the freeze we are going to have Saturday night.

Rain in the Spring

Today March 25, 2oo07
A beautiful day in my area but no rain in sight. Oh how I wish for a little rain, maybe will come in a few days. Now is garden planting season and am about to get tomato and pepper plants out. I have spinach, lettuce, onions and cabbage out now and the spinach and onions are ready and the cabbage will be ready in a few days. How good it is to have fresh salad greens to eat in the spring. The radishes and string beans are planted and soon will the squash and other things. No art work going on at this time.

Bird house

March 3 20007
Today a beautiful sunny day near Collins Ms.
Every morning the birds are chirping in my back yard and picking up some sunflower seed I have thrown out for them. Ever kind you can think of, some of them are so small and fast you can't hardly get a good look at them. I just love to watch them.
This is a bird house I have made from hand made paper. It is not one I would put out side but I just wonder what the birds would think of if I did put it out side.

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be uupon us:
and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Leaf River

February 19 2007
This picture was taken from Leaf River last August, I had to go under the bridge. My nephew went with me to take this picture. This is an orignal painting from the photo that I made
Was painted for a lady
a lady in New Orleans and then another was painted for some one else. This makes the third one to be painted for that photo. Lots of light and shadows. Lots of fun to do.
